Anthony Tsegakele is a Gatineau, Quebec native and Brandon University Bobcats alumnus who built his reputation as a high-energy, physical forward with a strong presence around the rim. Before his university career, he played at Thetford Academy, then joined Brandon for the 2019–20 season, where he quickly became one of Canada West’s top young players. Over his Bobcats career, Tsegakele averaged 11.5 rebounds per game across three seasons, ranking first on Brandon, top two in Canada West, and top five in U SPORTS over that span. He earned several major honours, including Canada West Rookie of the Year, U SPORTS All-Rookie Team, Canada West First Team All-Star, Canada West Defensive Player of the Year, and Brandon University’s Most Outstanding Male Athlete.

After Brandon, Tsegakele continued his rise into the professional game through the CEBL, where he was selected in three straight U SPORTS drafts: sixth overall by the Vancouver Bandits in 2021, fourth overall by the Saskatchewan Rattlers in 2022, and fifth overall by Saskatchewan again in 2023. With the Rattlers, he became known for his versatility, rebounding, toughness, and defensive impact, earning the team’s 2022 Sixth Man of the Year and 2023 Defensive Player of the Year awards. His professional career has also taken him overseas, including stops in Africa, France, Tanzania, Rwanda, and appearances with the Gabon National Team during FIBA AfroBasket qualifying.
